He was arrested in Portugal in 2007 after robbing thirty six banks single handedly in Spain over a fifteen year period. It has been the biggest media story in both Spain and Portugal within recent memory.

Synopsis
Paul Macgowan, a struggling writer, is captivated by the arrest of Jaime Giménez Arbe, alias “El Solitario,” a notorious Spanish bank robber. Despite media portrayals of El Solitario as a ruthless criminal, Paul senses a deeper story. Through correspondence with Jaime, Paul discovers a complex individual: a family man, engineer, and anarchist with anti- capitalist beliefs.
As Paul delves into Jaime’s life, he travels to Spain, meeting Jaime’s family and friends to understand him better. However, their budding friendship is hindered by authorities pressuring Paul for information on Jaime’s crimes and connections. Surveillance and questioning leave Paul questioning his own beliefs.
Yet, Paul remains determined to uncover the truth, unsure if he’s being manipulated or on the verge of the story of a lifetime.
